GIANT EMERALD FIND!!!!! Here's the main stone from which, all the below stones were cut. The original crystal was 335 grams and it came from the Nova Era mine in Minas Gerais, Brasil. It produced 12 stones at a total of 286.26 carats The original crystal was sawed by "Louro Barbudo," (I believe his real name is Florentino - but in the business many go by nick names), a professional Emerald dealer and it was preformed by him also. Robert Lowe sat right beside him during both operations and supervised. The stones were faceted in Governador Valadares, Minas Gerais, Brasil by a professional emerald cutter ( I don't have his name at the moment - "Louro Barbudo" was the supervisor of the cutting of the stone). The oval shape was chosen to retain more of the original color and small facets all around the pavillion for the same reason. The stones are: 84.66 cts, 70.77 cts, 41.78 cts, 16.96 cts, 16.39 cts (sold), 13.10 cts, 12.25 cts, 10.43 cts(sold), 5.54 cts(sold), 5.28 cts, 4.89 cts, and 4.21 cts.
