Occasionally, you  will want to shoot jewelry at an angle, or not "dead on" at 90 degrees...

This can easily be done by tilting the Dome.  This is exactly the same as shooting at something horizontally with a camera  and tripod, except we are just changing the direction from Horizontal to Vertical....and it makes it soooooooo....easy.

Once again, my 'five for a Dollar' coasters come into play.  by raising the edge of the dome and keeping the object level, I can shoot at most any angle.

The Cloud Dome is exactly 39.5 centimeters in Diameter at the base.  By raising the edge 3.44 centimeters, I elevate it exactly 5 degrees.  Since the Sine of an angle from zero (0) to forty (40) degrees is almost a straight line, raising the edge of the Dome by multiples of 3.44 centimeters , raises it 5 degrees at a time.

(Trust my math, I'm a physicist...)

This picture has the dome raised at 7 centimeters, or at eighty (80) degrees.  Raising it 14 centimeters changes the angle to seventy (70) degrees.

This leaves an opening at the bottom where stray light or hot spots might creep in.....sooooooo........

I cover the Dome with a white cloth......or....
(easier)...Cloud Dome makes an extender to raise the dome for shooting bigger objects.  I found a better use for it...or at least another use for it.  I simply drop it over the dome and it blocks any possibility of stray light entering the Dome.
This is shot at eighty (80) degrees with the light at 8 0'clock.  I raised the dome 7 centimeters.
This is shot at eighty (80) degrees with the light at 11 0'clock.  I raised the dome 7 centimeters.
This is shot at seventy (70) degrees with the light at 11 0'clock.  I raised the dome 14 centimeters.
This is shot at seventy (70) degrees with the light at 3 0'clock.  I raised the dome 14 centimeters.
This is shot at seventy (70) degrees with the light at 8 0'clock.  I raised the dome 14 centimeters.
I'll shoot more later in the week after the holidays....using different backgrounds..........I did these rather quickly to demonstrate shooting at different angles.
